I'm aware of complaints and will deal with them, says Pak Lah
SUBANG JAYA: Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi has assured the people that he is listening with his "big ears" to all complaints and grievances.
The Prime Minister said he was aware of complaints about "what is happening to our economy, ... to this, and that."
"I listen. The Prime Minister has big ears.
"At times pedih lah telinga ini – macam macam dengar (it is painful to these ears - hearing all sorts of things)," he said at the official opening of SJK (C) Ladang Harcroft in Puchong yesterday.
Abdullah stressed that he was not merely listening, adding that it was his duty to deal with problems and work on remedies.
"We are not keeping quiet. If we do not attend to problems, grouses, feelings of uneasiness, uncertainty and even anger, then one day we will suffer, everybody will suffer," he said.
"If you are getting impatient, then I'm even more impatient," he added.
In HONG KONG, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said the Government was committed to addressing the "legitimate concerns" of any community in Malaysia.
The Deputy Prime Minister, who was speaking at a press conference during his roadshow to promote Malaysia to fund managers, said the rally by the Hindu Rights Action Front was due to exploitation by opposition parties anticipating the general election.
He described the New Economic Policy as an affirmative action policy that benefited all communities.
"Otherwise, this Government would not have been returned to power in each general election," he said.

From a common perspective of the people, Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi has no initiative to deal with the problem of marginalization of ethnic races namely the Indians and Chinese. Ibans are not spared when they are moving out of their home state of Sarawak to dwell in West Malaysia. This is evidenced by unequal number of jobs intake in government sector and using the terms like Bumi and Non-Bumi as a form of marginalization.
During the current tenure of PM by Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, one sees the street demonstration of BERSIH by some 40,000 people last November 10, 2007, the highest street demo in the decade. However a foolish politician simply remarked that the calls for a free judiciary, a fair electoral system and equitable distribution of wealth are only demonstrated by 30,000 or 40,000 people. In other words, millions of other people are pleased with the current government. Surely any sane, honest and law-abiding citizen would want a just government and reformation even if he or she does not march for it! In rebuttal, this one man's remark is not as powerful as the unity of 40,000 men and women demonstrating on the street in the heart of KL City. There must be something very wrong about the current government of the country. Now the news is across the globe and the whole world is watching. Investors will be sacred and lost confidence in a country that is infested by corruption.
The remarks by Deputy Prime Minister that "Otherwise, this Government would not have been returned to power in each general election," shall be rebutted by the demonstration of BERSIH. When there is no clean and fair electoral system, there is no credibility of the current government of a fair play in politics. The Government is taking control of mass media and disseminates information that is meant to gain political mileage.
